Magnolia Soulangeana 55 Litre

With the garden largely dormant in winter, thoughtful gardeners look to Magnolia Soulangeana to liven up their grounds. Magnolia Soulangeana are a deciduous magnolia, which produces the most magnificent pink blooms during winter.

Colours & Flowers:

For a few treasured weeks each year, the Magnolia Soulangeana produces beautiful, fragrant and large flowers on sculptural woody stems from mid-July to early August. The rich flower colour can range from port wine to deep burgundy to a very pale blush pink. Adorn your home with mass displays of the blooms in large glass vases and containers.

Growing & Care:

As with all Magnolia’s, it is important to care for your new plant by watering well until the tree has become established. Magnolia Soulangeana enjoy slightly acidic soil, so it is worthwhile checking your PH levels (PH kits can be purchased from most garden centres) and adding dolomite lime if levels are below 6. To keep you Magnolia Soulangeana looking its best we suggest pruning after flowering to encourage healthy new growth. 

Best Displayed:

If the western side of your house needs some protection from the extreme summer heat, consider planting Magnolia Soulangeana which will produce dense, cooling foliage through summer, whilst in winter the naked branches will deliver a stunning flower display. The pink perfection of the flowers also makes Magnolia Soulangeana an ideal choice for a feature tree or tree-lined driveway.
